About This Site

1998 COMELEC Website under former Chairman Bernardo P. Pardo

A website for the COMELEC was first made available in 1998, under the leadership of former Chairman Bernardo P. Pardo, as an assistance from certain non-government organizations, for purposes of disseminating information pertaining to the 1998 national and synchronized elections. However, since maintenance of this site was not with COMELEC itself, it soon went out of the air, so to speak.

In 2001, the COMELEC first established its independent presence on the information highway, answering the call for a more accessible venue for disseminating official canvassing results by the National Board of Canvassers for the May 14, 2001 senatorial and party-list elections. This happened under the leadership of former Chairman Alfredo L. Benipayo.

Since then, the COMELEC website has undergone a couple of "e-facelifts" with the primary objective of coming up with a more eye-catching website, that is easy to navigate, with more useful and updated information, that would encourage its audience to learn more about the Philippine electoral process... and to keep coming back for more!
