Date of Publication: 07 April 2009
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) announced today that voters’ registration at COMELEC offices nationwide will be taking a break on April 9-11, 2009 (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Black Saturday) in observance of the Holy Week. COMELEC spokesman James Jimenez said voters’ registration will resume on Monday, April 13, 2009.
“This is to inform the public that COMELEC field offices will temporarily stop accepting applications for registration on Maundy Thursday, Holy Friday and Black Saturday (April 9-11) in deference to the nation’s observance of the Holy Week. Voters’ registration will resume on Monday, April 13, 2009,” said Jimenez in a public advisory issued by the poll body.
Jimenez also asked the voting public to meditate during the Lenten Season and pore over the chance of expressing their devotion to the country by voting in the next elections. ###
