Contract for the P1.6B voters' list cleansing project signed tomorrow

The Commission on Elections said Tuesday that it is set to sign the contract for the cleansing of the computerized voters' list with the UNISON JOINT VENTURE tomorrow, September 16, 2009, at the poll body's main office in Palacio del Gobernador, Intramuros Manila.
COMELEC Chairman Jose A.R. Melo, as Head of the procuring entity, will be signing the said contract with the UNISON JOINT VENTURE, comprised of 1) Unison Computer Systems Inc., 2) Lamco Paper Products Co. Inc., and 3) NEC Philippines Inc.
The COMELEC en banc, on September 11, 2009, approved the contract for the voters' list cleansing project. The project is worth One Billion Five Hundred Ninety-Nine Million Nine Hundred Eighty Six Thousand Four Hundred Eighty Four and 42/100 (P1,599,986,484.42).
COMELEC Spokesman James Jimenez said the Cleansing of the Computerized Voters' List Project has four (4) components. The four components, he said, are: 1. Validation of Existing Registration Records Using Biometrics and Data Capture System; 2. Online Data Submission and Synchronization System; 3. Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) Matching and AFIS Server Applications; and the Voter ID Cards Generation.
