Commission on Elections spokesman James Jimenez announced Monday that it is set to hold public demonstration of the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines to Rotarians, students and members of the media.

Jimenez said more than a hundred Rotarians in Cebu are set to participate in the COMELEC’s demonstration of the PCOS machines on August 13, 2009. The demo will be held at the Casino Espanol de Cebu.

The machines, he added, will also be demonstrated to more than two hundred (200) Third year Information Technology (IT) students from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) on August 24, 2009. The activity will be held in partnership with the Simbahang Lingkod Bayan.

Members of the media will also be given the opportunity to try out the PCOS Machines on September 11, 2009 during the Media Nation 6 that will be held at the Eugenio Lopez Center in Antipolo, he added.

Jimenez noted that there are only two PCOS machines available for public demonstration at the moment. This is why he encouraged interested parties to call the poll body’s Public Demonstration Coordination Unit (PDCU) to schedule a demo.
