Comm. Florentino A. Tuason Jr.

n behalf of the Commission's Committee on Overseas Absentee Voting (COAV), we would like to welcome you to the OAV (Overseas Absentee Voting) link of this website.

February 2003 saw the passage of the Overseas Absentee Voting Law (OAVL) giving life and meaning to the Constitutional mandate that our countrymen abroad be given their right of suffrage even if away from home.

FLORENTINO A. TUASON, JR.
COMELEC Commissioner
Chairman, Committee on Overseas Absentee Voting (COAV)
Hence, the first registration of overseas absentee voters was conducted during the months of August and September of 2003 for them to be able to cast their votes in the 2004 National Elections.

Just like births, the first OAV exercise was not without pains. But like a child growing up, we know that one day, the overseas absentee votes would make a difference in the whole Philippine electoral exercise.

With the extra mileage brought by cyber technology, we hope that the next registration period which shall commence on October 1, 2005 until August 31, 2006 would generate more registrants, hence, greater participation of overseas Filipinos in future elections.

Please visit this website every so often for more information and details.
