2007 BARANGAY AND SANGGUNIANG KABATAAN ELECTIONS

COMELEC 'Mall Tour', A Big Hit Among the Voting Public

DATE: 26 October 2007

Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Information and Education Chief James Arthur Jimenez announced today that the poll body's recently concluded voter information drive in various shopping malls in the Metropolis to educate the public on the dos and don'ts of the coming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, was a big success.

"It was a big hit among the voters" Jimenez said as he expressed thanks to the owners and management of Robinsons, SM and Ayala malls for pooling their resources with the COMELEC in the task of keeping the electorate informed and educated.

"The public's response to our information drive was very encouraging. In every mall we visit, we are swamped with people who are obviously raring to go to the Barangay and SK polls. For us, it is indicative of the people's trust in the electoral system" he said.

The COMELEC's voter information drive was conducted in more than 20 malls in Metro Manila.
