Resumption of Voter's Continuing Registration on the 5th District of Cebu Deferred

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has resolved to postpone the resumption of the system of continuing registration in the 5th District of Cebu which is comprised of Danao City and the municipalities of Borbon, Carmen, Catmon, Compostela, Liloan, Pilar, Poro, San Francisco, Sogod, and Tudela. The resumption of continuing registration was originally set on 16 May. However, that date falls within the ninety day (90) prohibition period, in reference to the May 30, 2005 Special Elections, as provided for in the Continuing Registration Law, RA 8189. Continuing registration in these areas shall commence after the proclamation of the winning candidate for the position of Representative.
