The Commission on Elections has set up a media center in Cotabato City to act as information collection and transmission hub in connection with the August 11, 2008 automated elections in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), according to COMELEC spokesman and education and information chief James Jimenez.
The poll exec said the media center will be manned by a team from the COMELEC’s Education and Information Department led by Information Officer II Leo L. Lim. Their tasks, Jimenez said, involve receiving, processing and transmitting information gathered from field officials and other stakeholders in the autonomous region. They are also in charge of coordinating the movement of foreign observers and members of the media covering Monday’s polls.
“As the nation is set to witness history made in August 11, we want to make sure all relevant information related to the coming automated elections are conveyed to the rest of the country and the world,” said Jimenez.
