Pursuant to the mandate of the COMELEC to ensure free, honest, orderly, peaceful, and credible elections, it is deemed vital and necessary to augment the AFP operating units in areas where "serious armed threats" exist in connection with the Synchronized May 14, 2007 National and Local Elections.

For this purpose, the Regional Election Director or the Provincial Election Supervisor,  in  coordination  with  the  Philippine  National  Police  (PNP)  Provincial Director and the highest ranking AFP officer in the area where "serious armed threat" exists, shall recommend the augmentation of the AFP operating units to contain the "serious armed threat" in said area.   Said augmentation shall be in support of the PNP contingent in the area.

For expediency therefore and in view of the urgency of the situation, the Commissioner-in-Charge of the area where such "serious armed threat" exists is hereby authorized to act on the matter subject to confirmation by the Commission En Banc and submission of report regarding any action taken thereon.

This Resolution shall take effect upon its promulgation.
